About me
I am an assistant professor in Computer Science at Kent State University. My research interests lie broadly at the intersection of mobile and wearable computing, human-computer interaction, machine learning, and cyber-physical systems security and privacy. A central goal of my past and ongoing research has been to enhance pedestrians’ cognitive skills in the context of distraction, identifying internal and external factors that influence their behaviors, analyzing the security/privacy threats of systems with mitigation techniques, and exploring the interactions between vehicles and pedestrians. I research to develop algorithms for context-aware and privacy-preserving intervention systems, which include conducting large-scale crossover trials, investigating mixed reality-based simulations for pedestrian-autonomous vehicle interactions, and analyzing vulnerabilities and potential attacks of such systems. My research has been published in premier journals and conferences, including IEEE Internet of Things, Future Generation Computer Systems, IEEE Consumer Electronics, Accident Analysis & Prevention, etc.
I received my PhD in Computer Science in Summer ‘23 under the supervision of Professor Ragib Hasan at the UAB Secure & Trustworthy Computing Lab (SECRETLab). I am an NSF GRSP (ALEPSCoR) Scholar, and my research proposal was awarded in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years. In addition, I served on the editorial board (Feature Editor) of XRDS, a flagship student-led magazine of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM); Sparkman Fellow at the Sparkman Center for Global Health at UAB; and a Senator and budget committee member of the UAB Graduate Student Government.
Before starting my PhD, I worked at Divine IT Limited where I worked on voice applications in the research and development team. Before that, I worked at JICA in the Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (Automated fare system for Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation and Bangladesh Railway). I previously received a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Dhaka (DU), Bangladesh. In my undergraduate thesis, I was fortunate to work with Professor Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu on reversible fault tolerant programmable array logic.
Prospective Students
I am looking for motivated Ph.D. students. If interested, please send your curriculum vitae, transcripts, and a short paragraph on “why you want to pursue a PhD” via email.
If you are a Master’s or Bachelor’s student at Kent State seeking research opportunities or experience, feel free to reach out to me via email or stop by my office.
